Steam has always prohibited games with adult content, despite selling games that display death and some sexual content. Visual novels have been censored from showing sex scenes. However, since visual novels are becoming more popular in the West, Steam finally grows up and figures out there’s nothing wrong with 2D anime sex.
Folks who purchased Sakura Swim Club elsewhere will need to download the patch themselves, as well as gain some other (18+ rated) perks for doing so. Post navigation ← We Are The Dwarves. Onechanbara Z2: Chaos Nude Mods Available For Download. Prominent mods made available is a nude mod. There are two different kinds of nude mods available for download for the PC.
The Stigma
Anime related or themed games, especially dating sims, have some bias towards them. Many people think that these games are overly sexualized and believe they need censorship. Twitch, a video game streaming site, bans many games that are anime related or have an anime-like art style, such as the Sakura games {Risque, but no naughty bits shown. Though some of the games do have adult patches to download}, Huniepop {this does have very explicit imagery, so I’m not surprised, but I love this game}, and Yandere Simulator {does not have any any crude content, unless panty shots and murder offend you}.
Steam prohibited visual novels from having sex scenes or nude characters. For a VN {visual novel} that originally had adult content to get on Steam, a censored version had to be developed for the store. A few VN’s that have went through such censorship for Steam include, Princess Evangile and The Fruit of Grisaia. These two dating sims originally had sex scenes. You can still get the uncensored versions for Princess Evangileand The Fruit of Grisaiaon different websites, so don’t loose hope!
Screenshot from “The Fruit of Grisaia.” God, I love the protagonist in this game.
3DPD Scrubs
As some people may know, Steam mainly held this censorship towards VNs. What makes this hypocritical are all the 3D games that include nudity and have a larger demographic, such as Outlast{dicks on full display}, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt{your character can have sex in the game}, and Grand Theft Auto V {go to strip clubs and get lap-dances}. If these games can get away with lewd content, why couldn’t visual novels do it? I don’t have the answer to this question nor do I know why Steam would allow realistic 3D nudity but prohibit 2D anime-styled nudity {I demand lewd equality!}. I just can’t make sense of it. But I will say, Steam is getting better.

Progress of Adult Visual Novels on Steam
It’s the fan-favorite; the one and only Mega Bitch herself, Audrey Belrose!
This may be my own weird theory, but, I think that the publishing of adult visual novels can be credited to the release of Huniepop. Now, I know that it is not a visual novel. It’s a puzzle game that parodies dating simulators {it’s amazing}. Think of Candy Crush with hot girls that you can have sex with. The only way to get laid is to have sexy puzzle skills.
Now, if you haven’t heard anything about Huniepop or you ignored it because of the sexual content, it was a great game that appealed to pervs. I’m not just talking about men. The fan-base for the game mainly consists of women.
Personally, my favorite girl is Celeste. #CelesteisBestGirl
We live in a world where many SJWs run rampant and complain about how women in video games are being portrayed or sexualized. Huniepop is a game that, intentional or not, aided with the support of adult visual novels. People would try to say it’s sexist and the developers were misogynistic guys who see women as sex objects, but that is not the case at all. The developer, Huniepot, proved them wrong on twitter. The following are real tweets from the dev.
The game was made primarily by women and the game has a large female fanbase. {It makes me think about those debates that question racism and gender. Can a black person be racist to other black people? Can a woman be sexist towards other women? It’s just something I have been curious about}.
Anyways, let’s get back to why Huniepop helped adult visual novels {Sorry, my fangirl mind went off topic}. Even though Huniepop was slightly censored, the developers provided a patch with 18+ content {the censored version still left nothing to the imagination, but the patch was great because of all the bodily details}.

Sakura Swim Club Download
After the success of this game, I noticed that there was a rise in mature visual novels. Winged Cloud, developers of the Sakura games, added 18+ patches for download, such as Sakura Swim Club and Sakura Fantasy. Then there were games released with adult content; no patches to download. You get the full game. These include current titles such as, Written in the Sky, Kindred Spirits on the Roof, and Gahkthun of the Golden Lightning.
Sakura Swim Club 18 Patch
I think it’s easy to say that visual novels are prospering in the west and slowly, but most definitely, adult visual novels will have their own place in the Steam Store. I hope we get more visual novels in the future.
Sakura Swim Club Game
Remember, whenever you censor a visual novel, a loli gets very disappointed in you. Make her happy.

Vortex 1.0 Release
Back towards the end of 2016 we began work on a new mod manager, Vortex, to replace the ageing Nexus Mod Manager. Unfortunately, we considered this change a necessary act considering the mess that NMM was (and still is) in. When we first started work on Vortex we were very aware that, over the 6 years that we worked on Nexus Mod Manager, it remained in a state of permanent beta which reflected our lack of confidence in the software's ability to remain stable and provide a solid exper...

Issues with Pay Pal payments over the past couple of weeks
We've noticed an increase in support tickets recently related to payments failing when attempting to purchase Supporter or Premium Membership on the site. This issue seems to have only affected a small subset of people who have purchased membership through Pay Pal, but it's important I get the word out so these users are not out of pocket or out of membership they legitimately paid for on the site. The issue was caused by a communication error between Pay Pal's services and our servi...
